Iowa Letter
For our Democratic reps in the House and Senate requesting Tom Perez to resign and that the high level attacks against Sander should cease. Feel to copy and change for your own use as needed.
February 8, 2020
Dear Senator Van Hollen,
I can not fully express my utter dismay and fury at the behavior of the DNC in Iowa and the high level attacks that continue against Senator Sanders from within our party.
The chaos sown in this primary to further and favor the 'anyone but Sanders camp', benefits only Trump and the GOP.
Tom Perez, one of the chief authors of this fiasco is either totally incompetent or feigning incompetence to shady and corrupt ends. Whichever it is, he should be forced to resign immediately.
To allow Bloomberg to buy his way onto the debate stage at this late date was a kick in the teeth of democracy, to allow Perez to continue in his role as Chair would be to dig democracies grave. Whatever could he have up his sleeve next? Will he allow Bloomberg surrogates to buy their way onto DNC rule committees to attempt to sway a brokered convention?
My faith in our party is beginning to wane. I understand now why Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is refusing to fundraise for the DNC.
It's clear from polling, small individual donor fundraising and from my time as a DC local attending many protests these past four years on the mall, that the future and energy of the party is with the progressive left who offer hope and vision of not only defeating Trumpism but of returning the promise of our great nation back into the hands of the people.
Please acknowledge that you have heard my concerns and copy me in on any action you take passing my request for Mr Perez to step down to your party bosses.
Thanks for your sterling work in the Senate and the attempt to impeach the corrupt incumbent of the White House. Please continue this good work, I hope further evidence of corruption is brought to light and further articles of impeachment will be forthcoming from your colleagues in the House. I'll be sending a paper copy of this to your office as a backup as I'm sure you get a lot of letters and emails and I'd hate this to get lost in the churn or devalued and discounted like the votes of people of color at satellite caucuses in Iowa.
Yours Sincerely,
Andrew Newsham
